TEMPORARY ELEMENTS

- Open grass field for people to picnic
- Hills throughout the open picnic areas in between walking path
- In between hills is flat grass lands to encourage many behaviors
- Main concrete path/trail that goes around and through the park
- The path is wide enough for groups of 3-4 adults to walk side by side
- Open brick square in the middle in front of a pond (water feature)
- Over 50% of the park edge is bordered with rocks that look out out to the waterfront

- There are stationary park benches that are along the immediate path to sit and watch all the activity on the trail and park
- Grass hills throughout the open fields were used for children to play with by running up and down. They are also used for people to sit on and watch activities or their children.
- Throughout the park there are public barbeque grills in designated spots to encourage users to set up big family gatherings/picnics in these spots
- Though the rock edges are designed to be a boundary breaking the land to water condition, they encourage great opportunity for activities such as sitting, watching and fishing. The huge rock edge that is an extension of the land, allows it to be accessible right off the main path. The rocks almost forming a big bench invites groups of people to enjoy conversation while watching the activity on the water as well as enjoying a day of fishing.

- Growing in between the cracks of the rocks were small weeds and bushes showing a soft scape of boundaries for the users.
- In contrast with the small weeds and bushes near the waterfront, the main landscaping of the park is open grass field that encourage different types of behaviours to use the park
- Most of the bigger forms of vegetation seem to be strategically placed to create some shaded areas in the summer as these are mostly deciduous trees. Accumulation of some of these trees also create a hardscape of access points as to where users can enter the rock edge of the waterfront

- Wildlife - geese ducks and swans were attracted by the water elements and food being cooked at barbecues
- People’s temporary picnic setups - such as commercial tents for more comfort
- Fishing set ups created by people that meant to stay in the park for the whole day

- The rocks along the edge are fixed
- The picnic tables spread throughout the park are used for permanent picnic setups
- Park benches along the walking path for moments of pause or rest
- The man-made pond in the middle of the park
- Public paved square in the middle of the park
- Maintenance sheds
- Large vegetation - coniferous and deciduous trees growing in designated areas

- One of the main demographic groups that occupied this space were families that consisted of adults with ages ranging of 25-40 as well as youths with the ages of 1-8
- The people that did the other main activities in the park were also adults with the range of 25-40 with some young children
- These people being of all ethnic groups and genders were a balanced amount
- The large family gatherings mostly consisted of Indian and Asians families
- Those casually walking, biking, running along the path were of all ethic groups

- All zones of the park are being used depending on their activities, except for the public square in the middle was not occupied
- Path across and through the park (a lot of dynamic activity)
- Park benches, relatively shorter periods of time but constantly used
- Grass fields in the middle for larger gatherings
- Grass hills for young people to play, adults sitting and watching
- The people sitting, watching and fishing along the water edge

- The evaluation of this public space took place in the late afternoon. (4-6) As a general observation, The whole park seems to the highly populated at this time
- Typically people spent time on the park benches for about 5-15 minutes
- Depending on their activity, people spent a range of 15 minutes to about a few hours along the rock edge
- In the picnic areas of the grass fields, families had their picnic setups ranging from 30 minutes to
almost the whole day

- Along the path/trail, people were typically walking in groups of 2-4
- Larger groups of people that were typically family gatherings ranged from groups of 4-20
- Whether the people there were just watching the views of going on a run, people were never alone
and always conversing with their friends

- Along the main path of the park, there are mostly dynamic activities such as walking & talking, biking, and running by many people
- Static activities such as fishing on the rocks was very significant when observing the use
- Due to the beautiful weather, many people took their time at the park and spent their time watching the views such as the people boating/kayaking on the water
- Large groups of people, particular families set up picnics that seem to have lasted for hours, almost like they anticipate to be there for the whole day
- As these picnics are set up, it created many more activities throughout the park such as children playing and running around their picnic setups
- Saw a man praying
- Children not afraid to play outside of their own boundaries
